Why your Shopify store may be invisible to ChatGPT

A store can be thriving on Google and ad platforms and still be a ghost to AI shopping agents. When that happens it’s almost always one of three causes — each fixable once you can see it.

1. No agent catalog exposed

If your store doesn’t expose a machine-readable catalog endpoint, agents have nothing to query. To ChatGPT or Claude, your products don’t exist — not ranked low, simply absent. This is the first thing to check and the highest-leverage fix: it’s the line between being shoppable by AI and not existing to it.

2. Product titles don’t match how shoppers ask

Agents lean heavily on your product titles. If a shopper asks for a "base layer" and your product is titled "Thermal Crew — Charcoal," the agent may never connect the two. Stores that win are the ones whose titles say what shoppers actually type. The category reports show the winning vocabulary for each vertical, term by term.

3. You’re out-competed on the queries that matter

Sometimes you’re reachable and well-titled but still lose, because a handful of stores dominate the queries you care about. Knowing which queries you’re absent from — and who beats you there — turns an invisible problem into a punch list.
